Dear Players,
Following the success of the FIDE Senior World Championship 2025 (www.worldseniorchampionship2025.com), which saw the participation of 440 players from all over the world, chess is once again taking centre stage in Italy, in Salento, Gallipoli (Le).
We are pleased to announce the 15th Salento International Open 2026, which will take place from 23 to 29 May, with € 10,000 in prize money.
The international event will be divided into three separate tournaments:
- the Master tournament for players with a FIDE rating > 1800, with a prize fund of € 4,000;
- the Main tournament for players with a FIDE rating from 0 to 1800, with a prize fund of € 3,000
- the Seniors tournament, for players over 50 (born in 1976 or earlier), with a prize fund of € 3,000.
The winning team remains unchanged, so the event is once again organised by Chess Projects, in collaboration with ArcoWorldChess, and the hotels involved in supporting the event are the Ecoresort Le Sirenè, the Joli Park Hotel by Caroli Hotels and the Grand Hotel Costa Brada.
This time, the venue for the event will be the Ecoresort Le Sirenè in Gallipoli (Le). Transfers from airports will be the responsibility of individual participants and accompanying persons, but all participating hotels are ready to assist you with their logistics services.
We look forward to seeing you again in Gallipoli, in the heart of the wonderful Salento region, at the end of May 2026.
